Ruth Ayres Harris
Hello & Welcome!
A graduate of London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama, my performance career as a classical flautist, violinist and pianist includes freelance work with top UK orchestras, solo appearances with BBC Cymru and BBC Radio 3 and training in Paris with Jean Pierre Rampal. My journey with these instruments began with a childhood conservatory education at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, studying under Mary Rees (former Head of Keyboard) and Francis Howard (BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra).
For the flute, these early foundations were guided by Douglas Townshend and Roger Armstrong, later expanding through masterclasses with Sir James Galway and Trevor Wye. As an educator I have taught at the UKs most elite public schools including Harrow, Bedford and Sherborne and have served both as an Ofsted inspector and a senior manager overseeing change within local government services as well as a ABRSM examiner.
My professional history also includes working as a clinical psychology researcher at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) under the UKs first Children's Commissioner. By merging this pedagogical and scientific background I provide specialised online performance coaching designed to help music students and professionals master their instruments, dismantle stage fright and conquer performance anxiety.
